Publication in Lumen journal: Engineers need communication and collaboration skills in green transition
Climate change is a global challenge that demands urgent and sustained action. The European Green Deal sets the goal of a climate-neutral Europe by 2050 (European Commission, 2024), while Finland is aiming for carbon neutrality by 2035 and seeks to halt biodiversity loss by 2030 (Ministry of Finance Finland, 2024). These ambitious targets promote economic growth through green technologies and accelerate the transition from fossil energy.
In this changing world, future engineers will be at the heart of the green transition. To meet the demands of tomorrow, they’ll need more than technical expertise—they’ll need strong communication, collaboration, and language skills.
The ECO-GT project rises to this challenge by helping engineers gain the practical skills needed for the workplace and by supporting educators in adapting their curricula to meet emerging needs.
