Industry Perspectives on Engineering Communication Skills for the Green Transition

This publication is one of the outcomes of the Erasmus+ ECO-GT project, which focused on identifying and developing the communication competencies required by engineers working toward a sustainable future. Drawing on project research, stakeholder engagement, and international collaboration, the article “Industry Perspectives on Engineering Communication Skills for the Green Transition” contributes to the growing body of knowledge on integrating communication skills into engineering curricula and supporting the green transition through engineering education. Based on focus groups and interviews with practicing engineers in Ireland, the study examines how communication supports engineers in project management, stakeholder engagement, negotiation, collaboration, and the effective transfer of technical knowledge. Its findings demonstrate that communication is not a peripheral skill, but a core element of modern engineering practice, essential for addressing the complex multidisciplinary challenges of the green transition.
